I spent a bit over an hour and a half working on a bunch of thumbnails today breaking down some famous landscapes paintings into white, gray, dark gray and black values. By doing this I am able to look at my own paintings with a more trained eye, making me stronger than before when it comes to planning out the arrangement of values and compositions! I may have to do a couple more sheets of these. I’m fine with that though since this exercise benefits my fundamentals a lot. Currently my paintings are starting to take form and look around competent but in order to fully say I know how to paint I need to understand value. Not a bad start on it, though! I’ll post the new Bob Ross painting I did today too in just a little while here.
